Gulabi Sapera, whose real name is Dhanvati, is a renowned Kalbelia dancer from Rajasthan. Through her dance art, she has gained recognition not only in India but around the world. Gulabi was born into a poor family. At the time of her birth, she was buried alive, but her mother and aunt rescued her. Following this, she was named ‘Gulabi.’ She performed publicly for the first time at the Pushkar Fair at the age of 10. Her dance style earned her recognition on both national and international stages. Padma Shri (2016): She was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, by the Government of India in 2016 for her contributions to Indian folk art, especially Kalbelia dance.
